Dream Big. Follow Your Passion. Do What Ever It Takes.

Dearest Guest,

Welcome and thank you for making the choice to visit my blog, JulietKitchen.com.

Who am I?

My name is Yasmin and I am the culinary curator behind the creative works from the recipes, to the food stories and the photography that resides on the website.

What is the main focus of JulietKitchen.com?

Here at JulietKitchen.com, the focus is on creating scrumptious recipes from scratch. I find that preparation is one of the most important aspects of cooking and it can be very time consuming, therefore I aim to create a lot of recipes that can be prepared in a short amount of time. Another main focus of the recipes is the use of many organic ingredients especially ingredients whereby pesticides and hormones or antibiotics cannot be removed easily; examples – spinach, broccoli, peppers, to name a few.  I only use organic poultry, wild fish and shrimps, and grass-fed meats whenever possible. All ingredients used are easy to find in my local grocery store, Wholefoods and Amazon.com.

How long have I been cooking?

I started my cooking journey as a child, probably by the age of 10 years young. I watched my late Mother, Juliet, cook fresh food everyday using organic vegetables – picked from our backyard. [The name JulietKitchen is homage to my late mother whom I consider to be the BEST COOK ever]. Mom and I always woke up before the crack of dawn, 4:00am to be exact – and to this day I still wake up before 4:30am.

Why did I start blogging about my recipes?

I spent many successful years in Corporate America as an Executive for a top-ranking financial institution. Home cooking is part of my DNA and despite my busy work-life, I always scheduled time to cook – mostly on the weekends preparing meals for the week.  I also cooked and baked a lot for my employees. In the last few years of my career, I started to think very seriously about attending cooking school plus the fact that many family and friends were encouraging me to start a blog. So here I am – curating the fabulous happenings in JulietKitchen.com

A Snapshot About Life Beyond My Blog:

I reside in Long Island, New York. I am happily married (I stopped counting the years) and enjoy spending time with my teenage son. He is the main reason for my departure from Corporate America – soon he will be off to College. It is an amazing and fulfilling experience to spend quality time supporting his dreams. I volunteer much of my time traveling across the Northeast of America judging Public Forum Debates for my son’s high school. I love to exercise – specifically I run on the elliptical seven miles five days each week. A lot of my recipe inspiration starts when I am in my home gym. When I am not grocery shopping, cooking, curating recipes, judging debates or exercising, you can find me reading and shopping for beautiful clothing and shoes. My absolute must splurge shopping experience is buying a great, quality pair of shoes – I spear no expense when it comes to shoes.

My Educational Background:

I graduated from Fordham University, Bronx, NY, where I obtained a duel degree in Finance and Management Decision Sciences. I Graduated from the International Culinary Center, in New York City; where I studied the Art of International Bread Baking This was an incredibly rewarding experience. I intend to attend the Farm To Table Culinary Arts Program late 2020 once my son heads off to college.
