It might sound like a cliche – “Eat your veggies and fruits.” But it’s a fact that doctors orders are to eat lots of green, leafy vegetables and fruits. I’m not a doctor, but as an adult, I love an abundance of vegetables and fruits (I used to hate them as a child). Making healthy smoothies is an additional way to get even more of the goodness of vegetables and fruits.
This page is dedicated to everything smoothies – the combinations are limitless. Smoothies are a great way to get a daily dose of recommended fruits and vegetables. They tend to pack a lot of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Traditional smoothies are typically defined as a creamy drink that is yogurt based. Most of the smoothies I develop are dairy free with no artificial sugar (there might be one or two that I add agave or honey). I achieve the creamy texture from two standard ingredients – avocados and peanut butter.
The smoothies are very flexible – meaning you can substitute ingredients easily (flavors will change depending on what substitutions you make.) I invite you to make the original smoothies on the site and then learn from your palate what changes you can make to reflect your taste.
