1 1/4 teaspoonssea salt(you can adjust if you are watching your sodium intake).
1/2teaspoonblack pepperfreshly ground
3clovesgarliccrushed or finely minced
1teaspoonfresh ginger(1 small piece finely minced)
2scallionsfinely chopped (plus extra for garnish)
Instructions
Preheat your oven broiler if required/recommended.
In a small bowl, add all marinade ingredients and mix toroughly.
Rinse salmon steaks and pat dry with paper towel.
Place the steaks on a large plate. Pour the marinade over the fish and coat well. Let the salmon sit in the marinade for 7 minutes and then flip it over for the second side to marinate for another 7 minutes.
Line a small sheetpan with parchment paper. Drizzle some oil or use an oil spray to lightly grease the parchment paper.Note: Greasing the parchment paper prevents it from burning under the broiler plus cleaning up the pan is made easy.
Place the salmon steaks on the lined sheetpan. Shake off any excess marinade, reserving the liquid part of the marinade for optional use when you flip the steak half way through the cook time.
Place the pan with the steaks under the broiler, about 6 inches from the heat source. Broil 3 to 5 minutes depending on the thickness of the salmon. Carefully flip the steaks using a spatula (or 2) and pour the reserved marinade over the steaks. Broil for 3 to 5 minutes more.Note: I used a 1 1/4 inch thick steak and broiled it for a total of 10 minutes.
Remove the pan and transfer the salmon steaks to a serving platter. Garnish with chopped scallions if desired. Plate and serve with your desired vegetables. Enjoy and Happy Cooking!
Notes
You can use salmon fillet if you don't want to be bothered with the bones. This recipe can also be grilled.
