Omega-3, antioxidants and other nutrients are what this smoothie is all about. The Omega-3 comes from walnuts, which is plant-based. This type of Omega-3 is known as ALA and it is listed amongst the best sources of Omega-3 fatty acids. [MedicalNewsToday]

For extra health benefits, I used green tea as the foundation which makes it a refreshing breakfast or snack drink. Green tea contains flavonoids. “Research suggests that flavonoids help quell inflammation, and that in turn may reduce plaque buildup inside arteries.” [Harvard Health Publishing]

This recipe makes about 14 ounces and has less than 200 calories. It’s less creamy than some of my other smoothies. It is rich in antioxidants and other nutrients derived from the blueberries and strawberries- these are two popular ingredients in many of my smoothies. Rounding out the flavors are ginger and vanilla extract.

Enjoy!
