Earl Grey Black Tea with Mango and Dragonfruit

Black Tea Mango Dragonfruit Drink

A delightful refreshing combination of Earl Grey Black Tea with fresh mango, dragonfruit and a splash of ginger with mint. This is a relatively low calorie drink that is perfect during the spring and summer, but I do make it year round as long as I can gather fresh mango and dragonfruit.

  • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
  • 2 Inch piece of fresh ginger peeled and sliced
  • 1 Tablespoon Earl Grey loose black tea (May substitute 4 black tea bags )
  • 1 Large ripe mango peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 Large Fresh dragonfruit peeled and roughly chopped
  • 1 lime juiced (about 2 tablespoons)
  • 2-4 Teaspoons raw honey or agave (depending on your preferred sweetness).

Instructions

Let’s brew the tea:

  • in a 2-quart saucepan or teapot, add the water. Bring to a boil using high heat.
  • Add the mint leaves and ginger..Reduce the heat to low and simmer 5 minutes.
  • Turn off the stove. Add in the black tea. Steep for 4-5 minutes.
  • Strain. Sweeten with the honey while hot. Cool the tea
Note: quick cool method. Place in freezer for 10-15 minutes.

Note: The mint ginger tea can be used just as a tea. So feel free to sip a warm cup or served cold with ice.

Let’s make the mango dragonfruit drink

    • in a blender, add the mango and dragonfruit chunks. Add 1 tablespoon water or the lime juice. Puree the ingredients.
    • Transfer to a pitcher. Add in the lime juice (if it wasn’t added to the blender)
    • Pour in the cooled mint ginger black tea. Stir.
    • Pour over ice and enjoy.

    Notes

Note. This drink will be good for up to three days, refrigerated.  That is if it last that long - good luck.
Additionally, the drink can be scaled to make 1 serving. For 1 serving use 1/4 of each ingredient. For 2 serving use 1/2 of each ingredients.
