Equipment

  • Gas Grill

Ingredients

  • 2 porterhouse steaks about 1 to 1 1/4 lb each & 1" thickness
  • 4 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  • Rinse the steaks and pat dry with paper towels.
  • In a small bowl combine the sesame oil, soy sauce, peppers and salt. Mix gently with a spoon to combine.
  • Season each steak on both sides using half of the marinade on each steak. Allow the seasoned steaks to sit for two hours or up to overnight.
Note: The marinade is just enough to coat the steaks. The steak can also be grilled immediately after coating it with the marinade.
  • Preheat an outdoor gas grill - 550 to 600 degrees. Grill the steak to your likeness. I grilled this steak to medium doneness - grill for 8 minutes (4 minutes per side).
Notes: Cook time may vary depending on the thickness of the steak and the temperature of the grill.
Alternatively: you can use a charcoal grill or sear the steaks in a heavy bottom fry pan on the stovetop..
Allow the steak to rest for at least 8 minutes before serving. Plate and serve with your favorite accompaniment. Enjoy.
