Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup freshly grated ginger Rinse ginger thoroughly before grating. Can use skin or peel if preferred
  • 5 fresh thyme sprigs
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1 large fresh pomegranate juiced. May substitute bottled pom juice. 3//4 cups approximately
  • 3 small blood oranges juiced – 1/2 cup. May substitute red grapefruit juice or your favorite orange juiced
  • Optional: Sweetener of choice for sweetening the iced tea, if making ice tea with left over I like to use raw honey
  • water for diluting the ginger pom-orange elixir if using as ice tea
  • ice cubes for the ice tea

Instructions

  • Add the grated ginger, thyme sprigs and water to a small 1-quart saucepan. Bring to a boil, lower the heat and simmer 5 minutes.
    1/2 cup freshly grated ginger, 5 fresh thyme sprigs, 2 1/2 cups water
  • Turn off the heat and allow the ginger and thyme to steep for 5 minutes.
  • Add the pomegranate and blood orange juices into a jug or pyrex measuring cup. Strain the ginger liquid into the pomegranates orange juices. Stir.
    1 large fresh pomegranate, 3 small blood oranges
  • Pour into shot glasses and drink as an elixir shot. Or pour into a tea cup and sip warm.
  • For a cold beverage sweeten with your favorite sweetener, dilute with some filtered water and pour over ice cubes. Drink and enjoy.
