Strawberries, Avocado, Dragon Fruit Smoothie

An easy, quick and naturally sweetened smoothie that is thick-ish in texture  Great for breakfast after an amazing workout.  I usually make this twice a week for breakfast after my workout.  It fills you up – you won’t be hungry.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup non-fat Greek yogurt
  • 6 to 7 medium frozen organic strawberries
  • 1/2 of a large Dragon Fruit
  • 1/4 of a Haas Avocado
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cardamon

Instructions

  1. In a blender, add the yogurt, strawberries, and cardamon

  2. With a spoon, scoop out the whitish seedy looking flesh from the dragon fruit and add it to the blender

    Note: You can find dragon fruit in any Asian Supermarket or many local grocery stores carry them in the fruit and vegetable aisle

  3. Remove the skin from the quartered avocado and add to the blender

  4. Blend for one and a half minutes until it becomes a thick-ish smoothie texture

  5. Pour into your favorite glass. Drink and enjoy.

Recipe Notes

This is a naturally sweetened smoothie that does not really require additional sweetener.  The dragon fruit is not a very sweet fruit.  You can feel free to add honey if you need extra sweetness and occasionally one add one teaspoon organic vanilla essence and one teaspoon grapeseed oil.
