Cherry Chamomile Tea Smoothie

Cherry Chamomile Tea Smoothie

Whether you are a tea lover or not, you will want to try this anti-inflammatory and nutrient-rich smoothie. Chamomile tea is considered a very good anti-inflammatory agent and it also acts as a sleep aid.  I am working on developing a multitude of smoothies that does not contain dairy since many of my family, friends and followers started to ask for substitution of milk based products.  This Cherry Chamomile Tea Smoothie is the first in a series of tea based smoothies.   I incorporated fresh cherries in this drink because they also have anti-inflammatory benefits, Source, antioxidants and they are actually one of the healthiest fruits to eat.  The flavor of this smoothie was rounded out with fresh plum, Granny Smith apples, fresh mint and spices. I encourage you to try this drink and share your feedback or comments.

  • 1/4 avocado

  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon organic chia seeds
  • 1 cup crushed ice

Instructions

  • Add all ingredients to a blender.  Blend until you achieve your desired smoothie texture up to one minute. Pour into glass and enjoy.
1 cup Chamomile Tea, 1 cup fresh cherries, 1 plum, 1/2 organic Granny Smith apple, 1/4 avocado, 1/2 lemon, 1/2 teaspoon organic vanilla extract, 2 fresh mint leaves, 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1 tablespoon organic chia seeds, 1 cup crushed ice

Notes

I usually brew the tea the night before and place in the refrigerator.  I use TAZO tea bags and steep for at least five minutes. You can brew the tea the day you need it and place in the freezer for 15 minutes to quick cool.  I do not add any sweetener to my smoothies as I like the natural sugars from the fruits – feel free to add a tablespoon of raw honey or even peanut butter or almond butter to give it extra sweetness.
