Spiced Berries Smoothie

I have a love relationship with fruit smoothie as you can tell from some of my recipe posts. I typically enjoy them after my morning workout which includes a six mile elicptical run. Fruit smoothies are generally a great way to get a tremendous amount of nutrients, antioxidants and of course an easy way to get your daily fruit requirement. This smoothie contains buttermilk. I use buttermilk for baking primarily; that was until I saw one of my favorite TV Chef, Bobby Flay, make a mango buttermilk smoothie. Buttermilk contains electrolytes and it helps with hydration – not a substitute for good old fashion water, though. It’s also know for aiding digestion and it’s a great substitute for milk if you are concerned about lactose. This particular recipe I had to test a few times to get it right – fresh organic berries that I freeze prior to using, coupled with freshly grated cinnamon and nutmeg will truly delight your palate. Not to mention you will stay full for a few hours.

Take a few minutes out of your day to try this recipe. You will not be disappointed.  Your feedback, comments and questions are welcome. Thanks for visiting.
