These perfectly grilled chicken patties or burgers are one of our go to grilled favorites. They are easy to make, loaded with beautiful flavors from the sesame oil, soy sauce and fresh herbs. They work well to prep ahead of time before guests arrive and can be marinated up to overnight. They cook very quickly as well. They are flexable enough to add cheese and burger buns with your favorite toppings. We serve these without the buns to keep them healthier and add brown rice and black beans on the side with veggies. How delicious and healthy is that? I hope you will try these yummy patties and enjoy them as much as we do. Happy Cooking!

Grilled Sesame Soy Sauce Chicken Patties | Burgers
A healthy and deliciously flavored grilled chicken patties / burgers that will be your new summer go to favorite.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken ground meat organic
- 1/2 medium red onion peeled and finely diced
- 1 cup corn kernels fresh or frozen
- OPTIONAL: olive oil for greasing hands when shaping the burgers.
FOR THE MARINADE SEASONING:
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon Sriracha seasoning (It's a little spicy, adjust for your taste)
- 3/4 teaspoon sea salt or kosher (adjust for your diet)
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon fresh garlic pressed or finely minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
- 1 tablespoon fresh oregano leaves finely minced
Instructions
Make the marinade:
-
In a small bowl, combine all the marinade ingredients. Mix thoroughly.
-
In a medium or large mixing bowl, add the ground meat. Pour the marinade over the ground meat. Add in the onions and corn. Mix thoroughly without over mixing.
-
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 to 2 hours.
Note: The meat can be marinated up to overnight.
1 to 2 Hours Later… Make the patties.
Preheat a gas grill 450F to 550F degrees.
-
Divide the seasoned ground meat into 8 equal portions:
Note: You can make larger burgers but will need to cook 2 to 4 minutes longer).
-
Coat palm of hands with olive oil. Shape each portion into rounds.Flatten into patty shapes about 1/4 inches thick. Use fingers to slightly indent the middle of the burger.
Note: I dip my palm into the olive while shaping the rounds as needed and I shape them while the meat is still cold. Indenting the middle of the burger allows for even cooking.
Let's Grill the Patties/Burgers:
-
Place the patties on the hot grill. Keep covered until ready to flip. Grill for 5 to 7 minutes, until the patties release from the grill grates using a grilling spatula. Flip and cook the second side 5 to 6 minutes.
Note: If using cheese, add it during the last minute of the cook time.
-
Turn off the grill. Transfer the patties to a platter annd serve as desired. I serve these without buns and with a side of brown rice and black beans and any vegetables you prefer. Enjoy!
