This perfect Spring and Summer Peachy Black Tea Refresher belongs on everyones’ drink menu. A nutritiously low calorie drink that’s easy to make. A little bit of extra time to simmer the peaches with spices and simultaneously brewing the tea is all that’s required. Further, make a larger batch and refrigerate. The drink stays fresh for up to one week.

Not to mention, it is packed with nutrition, light and low calorie. Each serving contains 6 grams fiber, 3 grams protein and a good amount of vitamin C. This particular recipe makes two generous servings. Further peaches are not only rich in vitamin C but they also contain the antioxidant beta carotene. When eaten the body turns them into Vitamin A.

What flavors pairs with peaches and are they healthy?

Notably, this Peachy Black Tea Refresher made with Earl Grey black tea leaves and fresh peaches worked well together. The combination of fresh ginger with the selection of spices added another level of delicious flavor. Additionally, peaches are high in fiber and low calorie. A note, however, about raw verses cooked peaches, they are more nutritious eaten raw. However because they tend to go bad quickly, cooking them is a good alternative.

Furthermore, peaches marry perfectly with spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and nutmeg. While freshly grated nutmeg works with the peaches, it doesn’t match as well with the black tea. An alternative method for making this Peachy Black Tea Refresher drink involves steeping it in slightly warm water, not boiled water. This requires both time and extra ripened peaches. The peaches can be mushed up using a muddle or the back of a fork or spoon. Let the peaches soak in the liquid for at least four hours and use ground spices instead of whole. Either way this refresher drink taste amazing. Happy Cooking!

  • 3 ripened peaches organic. Shredded. If the peaches are super ripened they can be chopped.
  • 2 teaspoons fresh ginger peeled or sliced. (about a narrow 1 inch piece)
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cardamom seeds
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 2 teaspoons raw honey can use up to 4 teaspoons or to your taste.
  • 2 to 3 cups water

  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon Earl Grey Black Tea Leaves This can be adjusted to your desired strength.
  • 1 lime juiced (Optional)

  1. In a 2 quart saucepan, add the shredded peaches and the remaining peach liquid ingredients.

  2. Use medium high heat and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer 10 to 12 minutes until the peaches have softened.

Note: Very ripe peaches will cook faster but still let it simmer to marry all the spices flavors.

  3. Turn off the heat. Strain the liquid into a large enough container that can accommodate the Black Tea as well. Discard the peach ingredients.

Simultaneously BREW THE BLACK TEA:

  1. In a tea pot or small pot, add the water. Bring just to a boil.

  2. Turn off the stove. Add in the black tea leaves. Let the leaves steep for 5 minutes. Strain if needed.

  1. Add the tea into the peach liquid. Stir. Allow to cool.

Note: To quick cook, I put it in the freezer for up to 30 minutes.

Also the peachy tea can be sipped hot/warm.

  2. Once the peach tea is cool, add the lime juice if using. Stir. Pour over ice cubes and enjoy!
