This frozen guava mock-margarita is a delightfully refreshing brain freeze drink. Serve this for the perfect Summer cooler. What’s more, don’t be shy because it partners easily with your choice of alcohol, if that’s your thing (Patron is perfect). The use of either blood orange or Cara Cara orange adds a natural layer of sweetness. Therefore, taste before adding a sweetener. Agava, raw honey or monk fruit sweeteners are excellent choices. Further, freshly squeezed lime juice is a must, since it radiates that splendid Margarita like flavor. Importantly, don’t skip the pinch of sea salt as it makes a subtle difference in the overall flavor.

What is guava and is this Frozen Guava Mock – Margarita Healthy?

This frozen guava mock-margarita is a great way to enjoy the nutritional powerhouse fruit, guava. For starters, the taste of guava is sweet. It is a tropical fruit that’s common in the Caribbean, Mexico, Central America and Northern South America.

What’s more, we were able to pick guavas right off the tree in our backyard as a child. I used to think Mom was a bit crazy because she always made us eat the green guava to help stop our diarrhea. As crazy as the idea of eating guava to stop the “runnings” was, it did really work. To further this belief, a 2017 sturdy cited in MedicalNewsToday showed that diarrhea in mice cleared quickly when treated with guava leaf extract, but more studies is needed in humans.

Amongst other nutrients, just 100 grams of raw guava contains over 5 grams dietary fiber, and over 200 grams vitamin C. Frozen Guava Mock-Margarita (Alcohol Free)

This guava mock – margarita is a show stopper. While this recipe is alcohol free, don't be shy, because it is alcohol friendly. Just add a shot or two of your favorite tequila (Patron is perfect).

Ingredients

  • 1 large guava ripened and chopped (May use guava puree)
  • 1 blood orange or cara cara orange. (Supreme – ie., peeled and segmented)
  • 1/3 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 4 ounces water
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • pinch of sea salt
  • optional: sweetener of choice I like to add 2 teaspoons raw honey

Instructions

  1. Dump all ingredients into a blender and puree until thick and icy looking.

  2. Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy!

    PS: Feel free to salt your glass rim. I sometimes add a chili salted rim.
